It opens to a surprisingly soft and plump flavor profile that might actually lead you to think that the wine is younger than it really is. But that softness translates into a flatter and more horizontal approach in the mouth. This vintage offers less depth and dimension as a result. On the upside, the wine is very nicely intact, although it does not show that Sangiovese freshness and balsamic intensity that is fundamentally the signature of the best Brunellos."
