The weather in 1975 in Bordeaux was favourable. It was a mild and wet winter and a fine spring. The summer months were hot and dry and there was rain showers in September. The harvest, which started during the last week in September, was mainly sunny with a few hailstorms. The best balanced wines are found in Margaux, St-Julien, Graves and Pauillac. A vintage for drinkable wines to be consumed in the short to medium term. 1975 was not successful for Red or white Burgundy or the North and South of the Cote du Rhone. In Portugal, there was a vintage declaration with some very good vintage ports produced.

The 1976 vintage in Bordeaux was fair and the drought of 1976 that affected Western Europe throughout the spring and summer had a huge impact in Bordeaux. The record hot weather continued until the storms and rains began in mid-September which interrupted the early harvest. 1976 was successful for Red but not for white Burgundy. There was a good vintage in the Northern Rhone but cold weather led to a poor vintage in the South of the Cote du Rhone. In Portugal, there was a small single Quinta declaration but the Colheita (or tawny ports) that were produced are drinking beautifully.

From the fine 1976 vintage, this medium bodied red wine is soft and fully mature. It exhibits caramel, roasted coffee, strawberry, dried herbs and black cherry fruit as well as noticeable tannins. Drink now - 2034. Facsimile labels.
