The nose is quite attractive, expressing the heat of the summer but without any greenness like some ‘89s show. The Merlot is quite dominant, cooked meats, a touch of smoke, tobacco coming through in its slipstream. For a Margaux it is masculine, but it has retained good vigour as it enters adulthood although returning ten minutes later it is oxidizing more rapidly than I would like. The palate is medium-bodied, supple in texture, not particularly complex but feminine, lithe and wily. A very drinkable d’Issan that slips down the throat with ease, though it lacks some length and drifts away on the finish with a little volatility on the aftertaste. Commendable wine though."
