The 2008 vintage in Bordeaux was a good year with the warmest April for 50 years followed by a very dull May and summer. Growers became very concerned until 60 days of unbroken sunshine in late summer saved the harvest. The Margaux region is the pick of the wines this year. 2008 was a good vintage for White Burgundy and despite a cool, wet spring and early summer July brought settlled sunny conditions through until the weather broke in mid september. It was also a good vintage for Red Burgundy with spicysoft tannic wines being produced. It was a very good vintage in both the North and South of the Cote du Rhone. In Portugal it was a single Quinta Vintage Port year. A note from Charles and Paul Symington of the Symington Port Group, which owns the well known names as W&J Graham Vintage Port, Dow Vintage Port and Warre Vintage Port, stated "What has been produced looks extremely good, even grapes coming in at this stage from high lying areas are producing some impressive wines." The Champagne region also produced some good Champagne which is drinking beautifully. It was also a very good vintage in Italy for red wines.

The 2009 vintage in Bordeaux was an outstanding year with perfect growing conditions throughout the year. 2009 was an outstanding vintage for White and red Burgundy It was a very good vintage in the North and South of the Cote du Rhone. In Portugal a very good vintage was declared. The Champagne region also produced some very good Champagne which is drinking beautifully. It was also a very good vintage in Italy for red wines.
