This super red wine from the very good 1996 vintage scored 94/100 Parker points, This wine, called Joseph, is a Cabernet Sauvignon (90%) and Merlot (10%) blend. It is made by Joseph Grilli, who produces it in the Amarone method, leaving the grapes to raisin before fermentation is commenced. However, unlike Amarone, there is no raisiny, pruny characteristics to this wine, which is made in limited quantities of 500-700 cases. The spectacular, opaque purple-colored 1996 Joseph is an individualistic expression of Cabernet Sauvignon.
