June was cool and dry and there was some rain in July. August was a dry cloudy month but the harvest was saved by a lovely hot September which led to the harvest starting in early October. All the major regions of Margaux, St Estephe, Pauillac, St Julien and the Medoc produced powerful wines with great ageing potential.1966 was a very good year for Red Burgundy and it as also a very good vintage in the Northern Rhone and a good vintage in the South of the Cote du Rhone. In Portugal, it was an outstanding Vintage Port year producing Vintage Ports with superb structure, filled with fruit and tannins. James Symington of the Symington Port Group, "Musts everywhere showed higher than average readings and the colour is excellent. Yields on the other hand are the lowest for many years, some Quintas being as much as 30% down on their '64/5 productions.We are delighted with the prospects for the 1966's. It will be surprising indeed if 1966 does not prove to be an excellent vintage for Port."

The record hot weather continued until the storms and rains began in mid-September which interrupted the early harvest. 1976 was successful for Red but not for white Burgundy. In Portugal, there was a small single Quinta declaration but the Colheita (or tawny ports) that were produced are drinking beautifully.

A truely superlative vintage for both left and right bank producers. It was an outstanding vintage in the North and South of the Cote du Rhone. In Portugal, there was a small, though high quality crop which produced some good vintage ports. The Champagne region also produced some very good Champagne which is drinking beautifully.

The 2006 vintage in Bordeaux was a good year but had extremely variable weather throughout the year with a very cold winter, a dry spring and a scorching July. September was very wet which hampered the harvest. Cabernet Sauvignon based wines were most successful. A vintage for drinkable wines to be consumed in the long term. 2006 was a very good vintage for Red and White Burgundy. It was an outstanding vintage in the North and South of the Cote du Rhone. In Portugal, no vintage ports were made. The Champagne region also produced some good Champagne which is drinking beautifully. It was also an outstanding vintage in Italy for red wines.

The 2008 vintage in Bordeaux was a good year with the warmest April for 50 years followed by a very dull May and summer. Growers became very concerned until 60 days of unbroken sunshine in late summer saved the harvest. The Margaux region is the pick of the wines this year. 2008 was a good vintage for White Burgundy and despite a cool, wet spring and early summer July brought settlled sunny conditions through until the weather broke in mid september. It was also a good vintage for Red Burgundy with spicysoft tannic wines being produced. It was a very good vintage in both the North and South of the Cote du Rhone. In Portugal it was a single Quinta Vintage Port year. A note from Charles and Paul Symington of the Symington Port Group, which owns the well known names as W&J Graham Vintage Port, Dow Vintage Port and Warre Vintage Port, stated "What has been produced looks extremely good, even grapes coming in at this stage from high lying areas are producing some impressive wines." The winemaker David Guimaraens stated "The 2011s stand out for the purity of the fruit and the quality of the tannins, which are silky and well-integrated, but provide plenty of structure,"
