Gaja's long-time dream of owning vineyards in Barolo has finally been realized. No one who loves his wines will be disappointed with his first two Barolo releases. The nose doesn’t shout so loud, but there’s lovely depth to the fruit and a slightly more spicy aspect. The palate is a little silkier, not particularly high acidity but there’s balance and the finish is still mouthwatering. This is a very tasty wine that reminds Louis-Michel of Chambolle." A 1956 - 1964 bottling of Green Chartreuse. Produced between 1904-1989 in Tarragona (Spain) after the Carthusian Monks were exiled from France. In 1989 the distillery in Tarragona closed down and the production of this liquor returned to France. Nowadays the bottles produce in the distillery of Tarragona have become one of the most expensive and sought after liquors in the world. The recipe contains more than 130 different plants and flowers, the Mediterranean character of the Tarragona distillery is bottled in this unique and limited liquor. In most vintages the production of Quinta do Noval Nacional is no more than 250-275 cases. Scoring 82/100 Parker points and from the outstanding 1963 vintage, this Quinta do Noval Nacional port "wine possessed a fabulously smoky, cassis, black-cherry, peppery nose. After thirty minutes in the glass, fruitcake notes and more evolved aromas emerged. This port is so concentrated it defies belief, with extraordinary balance, and, like its two siblings, well-integrated alcohol and tannin. The impression is one of a silky, succulent, voluptuously-textured mouthful of exceptionally extracted port. This is a legend in the making. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and multidimensional, with unusual volume and breadth for the vintage, striking concentration and an incisive spine of acidity, concluding with a long, vibrant and chalky finish.
